How to Get Rare Keycaps

Rare keycaps in Custom Keyboards are the rolls you keep instead of selling. The developers have not published drop percentages, secret names, or a pity timer. This page will not invent them. You get better caps by kicking with more Kick Power, protecting mutations, using the Boba window when it is live, and trading on a 4-player server. That is the whole method.

If your board is still empty, finish Getting Started. If your kicks are weak, raise them in how to kick. This guide starts after you can fill slots and need a filter.

The four honest sources

  1. Kicks. Every kick can roll a higher rarity or a mutant. More Kick Power, better keyboards, and train speed when you can already place fast. See keyboard tiers.
  2. Mutations. A mutation can turn a mid cap into trade bait. Lock mutants before sell-by-rarity. See mutations.
  3. Trades. Other players already rolled what you want. Pay with duplicates, not with your only S piece. See how to trade.
  4. Events and codes. BOBA and like-goal strings inject extra rolls or boxes. Rewards are not itemized. Redeem them, then inspect the result. See codes and Boba event.

Shop packs and spin wheels may also drop caps. They cost Robux. Treat them as optional. The f2p loop does not require them.

Filter, do not hoard

A rare cap that sits in inventory pays nothing. Place it. Step it. If a better roll arrives, sell the weaker one. Keycap tiers uses S through F as language for that choice. S and A stay. C and D sell. B stays until an A arrives. F is clutter.

Equip-best is not a rarity oracle. It often sorts by tag color. After you place, read the step money if the HUD shows it. A mutant B that pays more than a blank A is the keeper. Keycap value is how you explain that in a trade without quoting fake RAP.

Slots are part of rarity

You cannot farm rares on a tiny board. Buy keycap slots after Kick Power. A full board of A caps earns while you hunt S. An empty board with one legendary in the backpack earns zero. Best setups shows how layouts think about slots versus peak pieces.

Sell-by-rarity is the tool that keeps slots open. Configure it so mutants are excluded if the GUI allows a lock. If it does not, sell by hand. One misclick sell-all can wipe a session.

What luck is not

Luck is not a published stat in the official listing. If a script GUI shows a luck percentage, it is the author’s guess. Kick Power is the real lever. Offline earnings do not roll new rares while you are gone; they cash the board you already placed. Come back, spend, kick again.

Do not rebirth to “reset luck.” Rebirth is an income multiplier with a cost. Read rebirth before you throw a mutated board into a reset because the last twenty kicks were common.

Trading for rares

On a 4-player server you can skip bad RNG by buying the cap. Offer duplicates. Offer cash if the trade window supports it. Do not offer your only mutant for a blank higher rarity unless keycap value says the blank actually steps more. Decline go-first deals from accounts that just joined. Players Hub covers etiquette.

Scripts that auto-collect and auto-sell will eat a rare the moment it lands if your filters are wrong. Turn auto-sell off while you hunt. Auto farm is a ban risk and a filter risk at the same time.

Session plan

  1. Redeem codes and claim daily or playtime.
  2. Spend cash on Kick Power and slots, not skin plots. Upgrade priority.
  3. Kick, place keepers, sell junk, step.
  4. If Boba is live, keep event drops until quests are done.
  5. If a duplicate S lands, open a trade instead of selling it for vendor trash.
  6. Stop when slots are a clean S/A mix. Idle cash will work while you are away.

Rare hunting is patience plus Kick Power plus a lock on mutants. There is no secret artisan name this wiki can type to make the next kick drop a god cap. Anyone listing exact odds is guessing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Codes, Kick Power, trading, and Boba answers in one place.

What is the rarest keycap in Custom Keyboards?

The developers have not published a named secret list. Rank by step money and trade demand using keycap tiers.

Do codes drop rares?

Listed codes are not itemized. Redeem them, then inspect boxes and rolls. Do not assume a guaranteed S.

Should I sell mutants?

Not by default. Lock them and read mutations before sell-by-rarity.

Can I trade for rares instead of rolling?

Yes. That is why the title includes trading. Follow how to trade.

Does rebirth raise rare chance?

Treat rebirth as an income reset, not a luck ritual. Read rebirth first.
